Proverbs 10:30 Permanence_

The righteous will never be shaken, but the wicked will not dwell in the land. Proverbs‬ ‭10:30‬ ‭NASB

There are many things which threaten humanity regularly. Being righteous doesn’t exempt me from difficulty or challenges. But those things will never remove my confidence in my relationship with Yahweh and Jesus Christ. Nor in the place he has given me. He anchors my heart in Him and it does not need to be moved. And even if the earth shakes, people threaten, circumstances look dire, I know I have confidence that He causes all things to work together for good for me.

Rotherham translates the second part, “but the lawless shall not inhabit the earth.” The word inhabit carries the sense of permanent lodging. There are a few things I take away from this. The first is that those opposed to Abba will not last. They are like the mist when the sun rises. The beauty of a fading flower. They will not have the same internal confidence that the children of God have. The second is more curious – permanence on earth. There is no place in this world for the lawless. Eventually, they will be gone. This seems amazing since I know of no time when this has happened. It’s like saying that man will never die, it’s all we’ve known! But Yahweh designed this earth to sustain and last. It will be eventually replaced with a new heaven and earth, but the fact remains – the wicked do not have a future.

But I do.

And this is incredible. I’m told that I won’t be shaken, even as the shaking occurs. But it is an encouragement to dig deep to the word that he speaks and the trust that he asks us to have in Him. Yes, our God is a solid, unshakeable rock!
